I can certainly see the quality of life benefits - especially for someone who isn't interested in Excel for its own sake and just wants to make it through the work day. As an alternative, you might consider ASAP Utilities. I would use similar extensions without hesitation to make Word more user friendly, since I don't care about or rely on my own proficiency in that program beyond the basics. Kutools is a utility with a good reputation from a company with a good reputation. I think that Kutools is a good resource for someone who has to work in Excel and wants it to be easier - like training wheels that don't come off. I don't trust third party companies to offer the same standard of updating, security, and support that Microsoft does. If I relied on Kutools, then I'd be less likely to notice and learn when Excel improves and offers a similar function - we are all creatures of habit Usually companies don't like downloading things they don't understand from the internet (I had to fight tooth and nail just to get the free Power Query addon from Microsoft at 2 of them - and one of them said no even as middle management were tearing their hair out looking for a solution to a PQ problem!)Įxcel is the skill that gets me jobs, 99% of my work is in Excel, and the last thing I want to be heard saying is "oh I don't know how to do that without Kutools" I generally avoid using tools like this because
